The Monarchs have lost four straight entering their Friday night tilt with Western Kentucky. Steven Williams Jr is playing like a true freshman and has been inconsistent this season under center. He had two touchdown passes and four interceptions two weeks ago. The injuries have seriously hampered what this team can do. Into Norfolk comes Western Kentucky who is 4-2 on the season. Let’s take a look at some numbers in this matchup:

  • ODU has been outscored 184-54 during this losing streak
  • The Monarchs have covered just twice in their last 15 games as an underdog.
  • Western Kentucky has won three straight
  • The Toppers have covered 11 of their last 15 games after 2 or more consecutive straight victories.

I never like laying double digit points on the road even if the team is that much better. It’s just something that I don’t want to do because the backdoor potential of an odd cover always seems to happen. WKU is actually playing defense nowadays which is not their calling card. Mike White is also a fantastic quarterback. A few weeks ago, I took the points with ODU at home against FAU and they let me down big time. The talk this week is of pride with Coach Wilder’s team. That’s not something I want to hear especially on a short week.

WKU 31-13
