Just ahead of the playoff committee’s release of the rankings tomorrow, it’s time to look at whose stock is up and down when it comes to the college football postseason.
Stock Up: Clemson — The ACC squad picked up another win over a ranked opponent in NC State and is now one win over Florida State away from returning to the conference title game. The defense looked real good and the offense flexed it’s muscles as well. The Tigers are in a good spot right now when it comes to the playoffs.
Stock Down: Virginia Tech — If you bought stock in the Hokies, then you are probably bankrupt now. Virginia Tech came up small in another big game and now have no shot to win the Coastal or make it to the field of four. The season can still be a success if they accomplish other goals.
Stock Up: SEC getting two teams — Georgia and Alabama each took care of business and as long as both are undefeated heading into the SEC title game, then they both should make it to the playoff. Things around them went rather well and the win over the Irish is helping UGA a ton.
Stock Down: The Big 10 — Ohio State and Penn State losing means the focus is on Wisconsin who has played a pretty awful schedule. The Badgers host Iowa and Michigan before a road game at Minnesota. The conference could cannibalize itself if Wisky loses in the conference title game.
Overall…the list of 15 teams that I thought had a chance has been reduced to 10 with a couple of two loss squads hoping for supreme chaos.
