Tis the season to give. The ESPN Richmond 10th annual Holiday Cheer & Gear, presented by Lexus of Richmond was a huge success. Broadcasting from 9:50AM to 7:40 PM at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Short Pump Town Center, we collected hundreds of sports gear items.

Holiday Cheer & Gear is an official, Salvation Army Christmas Assistance program created in 2007 to aid an underserved group who benefit from the Salvation Army during the holiday season.

While thousands of toys and presents were being donated and distributed to young children throughout Greater Richmond, there was a lack of gifts for boys and girls ages 10 to 16. Holiday Cheer & Gear focuses on collecting new sporting goods to deliver to that neglected group of young boys and girls.

Over the years, numerous items have been collected, benefiting local Richmond teenagers, who in the past would not have received any presents on Christmas Day, now have gifts to open along with their younger siblings and parents.

A special thank you goes out to all of our sponsors, and to everyone who stopped by and dropped off sporting goods for the event.
