First off, I firmly am in the camp that UCF is our rightful champion, but I’ll play along with the big game on tonight. Secondly, I have massive SEC fatigue so while I’m excited because it’s college football, I’m still not as jazzed about this matchup as I would be for other games. Thirdly, I’ll be spending my Monday night watching the Dan Le Batard room while the game is on and will occasionally check in on the coaches.

These two teams have a lot in common with a ground based offense and a defense that has done really well against it. Each squad is averaging around 36 points per contest and 260 yards per game on the ground. One of the tipping points could be who performs better between Jake Fromm and Jalen Hurts who may have to make the big play in order for their side to win. Intangibles go to Alabama who has been there before and won’t be intimidated by the spotlight. On the other hand Coach Smart knows a lot about Coach Saban’s tendencies and could know how he will coach in certain situations.Let’s take a look at some gambling trends in this one.

  • Georgia has gone under in 25 of their last 40 games.
  • They’ve covered five of their last eight meetings with Alabama.
  • Alabama has gone under in eight of their 13 games this season.
  • The Crimson Tide are 21-2 the last three seasons against teams with a winning record.

To me, tonight sets up for a low scoring tight affair. I don’t see either side pulling away from the other as I just don’t see either defensive allowing too many explosive plays. Alabama has the edges where it matters and that’s why I think they win.

Alabama 20, Georgia 16
