UVA (-5.5) @ Miami — Virginia lost to Virginia Tech last time out, yet they were named #1 by the AP Poll. Next up is a road tilt with the Hurricanes. The Hoos have just one career win in Coral Gables and Miami beat them at JPJ last year. The U is 18-6 and is coming off a headscratching two point loss at Boston College in which they committed a foul with less then 3 seconds left. They’ve lost just once at home falling to Duke back on January 15th. Bruce Brown is injured, but they still have threats in Dewan Huell and Lonnie Walker IV. I was stunned at how UVA looked on Saturday. They had poor shot selection and didn’t have the usual intensity on defense. The Hoos have covered seven of their eight road games going under in seven as well. Miami’s usually not one of the tougher homecourts in the league although you have to wonder if their fans will show up against the number one team in the land. More importantly, what do we get from UVA who needs better shot selection from Kyle Guy. I think there’s a chance UVA wins, but doesn’t cover tonight. Virginia 59, Miami 55

Richmond (+15) @ Rhode Island — The toughest road trip you can take through the A-10 finishes up for the Spiders on Tuesday as they play at Rhode Island. The Rams have been machine-like dominating their opponents. They have won nine of their 12 conference games by double digits and on any given night they can put up 80 points and hold you to 55. The squad goes legitimately eight deep and is filled with veterans and solid size. Richmond was able to keep up with St. Bonaventure for about 30-35 mins before the game got away from them in Olean. We’ll see if De’Monte Buckingham is available for a Spiders team that couldn’t keep up with the Bonnies pace. This will be a true test for them tonight to see if they have patience to get their shot against a URI team that will make them work. Rhode Island is 7-3-1 against the spread at home. They also lost by 11 at the Robins Center last year so you know that’ll be on their minds as well. Rhode Island 71, Richmond 58

James Madison (-3) vs. UNC Wilmington — The Dukes will be playing six games over the next 13 days as they make up their games from the mumps postponement. The biggest question will be how this team will handle the time off and if the players who were affected will be okay on the court. These two played back on January 25th with JMU losing 71-68 on the road. The Dukes are the opposite of URI as they’ve got a ton of close losses in-conference. They were really close to breaking through before the extended time off. UNC Wilmington is allowing 91.1 points per game on the road. I’m very surprised at how poor the Seahawks are playing this season. I think they add to their misery on Tuesday. James Madison 85, UNC Wilmington 80
