VCU @ Fordham, 2 — What to do with VCU? The team played a roller coaster-like contest on Wednesday in their loss to George Mason. They had a double digit lead in the second half and let it slip after a really slow start to the contest. There are a lot of seed possibilities for the Rams who could finish anywhere from 6 to 9 in the conference. They travel to New York to play a Fordham team that is absolutely awful. Outside of Tavares and Chartouny, there really isn’t a lot to worry about. I liked Fordham a few games ago as they hosted La Salle at home and the Rams got smacked. There won’t be much of an atmosphere which makes things real tricky. I’m guessing VCU gets the win, but I’m not confident in that. VCU 67, Fordham 60

Richmond @ George Mason, 7 — The Patriots are one of the hottest teams in the conference after they came to the Siegel Center and got a victory. They just know how to score with the likes of Otis Livingston and Goanar Mar. Mason beat the Spiders here in Richmond extending their series win streak. Now the Spiders are a confident team after demolishing UMass, but can they carry it to the road? De’Monte Buckingham did not play in meeting number one and you know he’ll make a big difference in this one. Mason fans should show up in numbers for this game Saturday as a win gives them the 4 seed and a double bye in the A-10 tourney. I think they keep the good times rolling and continue their mystifying dominance in this series. Mason 77, Richmond 72

Virginia Tech @ Miami, Noon — This one has two teams that are feeling good about themselves as they come off upsets over North Carolina teams. The Hokies beat Duke at home on Monday while the Canes won in Chapel Hill this week as well. Miami beat Virginia Tech in Blacksburg a few weeks ago in a high scoring contest. I don’t know if we’ll see as many points as I think Miami prefers a slower game. I think we see a pressure-free Tech as they know they are in the tournament and pretty much know their seeding in the upcoming conference tournament. Justin Robinson wasn’t great in the Duke win, so you know he’ll want to play better. Miami can also feel the same way after the win over the Heels. With two loose teams, I think I lean to the bigger home team in this one although it’s a toss up. Miami 71, Virginia Tech 67

Virginia vs. Notre Dame, 4 — Senior Day over at JPJ for Isiah Wilkins and Devon Hall so you know emotions will be high especially after the improbable comeback over Louisville. DeAndre Hunter is a banged up player with a host of ailments although none of them effected his bank shot. Ty Jerome is in a good rhythm as of late. Notre Dame is a desperate and hungry bunch after they crushed Pittsburgh in Bonzie Colson’s return. The Irish finally have a healthy roster for the most part and they need to impress the committee to show them how good they are now. Mike Brey is a very good coach and he’s going to know how to have a good gameplan for this one. Weird things happen on Senior Day and I think Notre Dame gets the win. When healthy, this is one of the best teams in the ACC. Notre Dame 65, UVA 61
